Evry Health is an insurance company built for the modern business and mobile workforce. Evry Health’s mission is to make healthcare affordable, transparent, and of the highest quality by providing expanded benefits at a reasonable price.

Overview

Evry Health approached Invene with an almost impossible task over Christmas Break – develop and release Evry’s web portal in 8 weeks. Evry’s web portal had fallen considerably behind deadline due to their previous vendor’s negligence. Failure was not an option for Invene. Evry needed to release in 8 weeks, otherwise they would lose a massive amount of already contracted revenue, plus tank their reputation.

Challenge

The biggest challenge of this project was time. Due to the 8-week deadline, scope had to be constrained ruthlessly. To dedicate enough buffer for quality assurance, “nice-to-have” features were quickly cut and moved to a later date. Since Invene inherited a sub-standard codebase from the previous vendor, a good amount of time had to be budgeted for fixing the bugs in the existing codebase and making it production ready on top of adding new functionality.

Solution

To guarantee success, Invene had to fully lead the project. Invene brought in experts in project management, software development, and user interface design to execute on Evry’s vision. On top of this, Evry assigned one of its internal, full-time engineers to directly report to Invene. As this was Evry’s top software priority, Invene held weekly meetings with Evry’s executive team to demonstrate progress.

Results

This project was a massive success. Invene delivered on-time and on-budget. The web portal had all required features and looked good on desktop, iOS, and Android. Evry was able to fulfill their contractual agreements and immediately get a return on their expenditure of Invene’s services. Since Invene had worked closely with Evry for the duration of the project, the hand-off of the codebase to the internal team was seamless.
